I will be in the Seattle area next month and am thinking about making an appointment with Piers for some tuning and maybe a new injection pump on the trailer towing truck. For you guys that have been up to Piers diesel days, what kind of ID do they want at the border? I haven't crossed since the 80's, back then all they wanted was a drivers license. I would like to be prepared and avoid a hassle.

CD,

I have NEVER crossed into Canada, but I have watched a lot of movies. Try to remember to say, "eh" at the end of each sentence. Eh, can be used to denote both a question and an answer.

Anytime American beer is mentioned, just start laughing. Don't hold the money up to the light and say things like, "Gosh these sure are purty colors!"

Whatever you do, DO NOT say, "It's just like America up here... . only cleaner!"

While at the Border Crossing, don't mention to the Officers that you are going to PDR to BOMB your truck.

Good luck, best wishes, and if you're not back in a week, we'll round up a posse!!

Last year when I went up I just gave them my Drivers license and my Birth certificate. I think they recommend that you have your Birth certificate, but I am not totally positive about that. No problems coming or going. They sure do ask allot of dumb questions.

Stomp

Stomp's got it correct, you are required to have your Drivers license, and either your Birth certificate or a Passport.

They only ask for the Birth certificate about 50% of the time but you need it incase they do.

Have a great trip, everytime I've gone up there for truck related events my wallet comes back much thinner  :D :D :D

... ... ... ... ... ... ... (my gut hurts!! :D :p - Oh man... truer words have never been said... . )

Passport or birth certificate (notorized copy is ok). No photo copy... . they almost turned me around.

Photo drivers license (duh)

Shut your truck down RIGHT NOW.

Take off your sunglasses.

Showing them PDR or DTT business card speeds up the process.

Don't even think about dissing them in any way.

Most have already said but

very important to shut truck down immed. after pulling up to gaurd!

-Drivers licence and Birth Cert. or Passport

-know your destination (name and address)

-know where your staying (hotel, friends, and there address)

-seems to work best not saying that your're having work done last time I just said "I was up in Wash. already so I'm coming up to see some friends (Piers')"

Some Q's

-how long are you staying?

-do you have any weapons?

-do you have any ammunition?

-have you ever been to Canada before? ( they know the answer)

-how much alcohol?

-over $10,000 on your person

-do you have any gifts for anyone in Canada, or products you plan on leaving here?

And my personal favorite if you do tell them you came there to have work done on your truck

-What you don't have any mechanic's in California? :{ that was lose, lose so I just said gimmie the tag

Man you'd think I could make it across easier since I know the routine :-laf ohh one more thing dont try to make jokes if you get sent inside.

Yeah i left my pickup running and i got waved over to the side and had to go inside there office. Now i was on military orders moving to Alaska and nobody told me i had to have a copy of my birth certificate but they let me go anyways but they told me for further reference to bring it with me to Canada. oh yeah did i forget all the EH's lol
