Pensicola is a pretty reputable company though. I've talked to a few guys that have bought from them before and never had any problems. I'm not trying to change your mind, just thought I'd give ya a cheaper option.

Good catch - thanks.

Just checked the site/page I believe whistleman is referring to: PDR Diesel Performance: Bosch 275 RV 40HP Injectors 1998. 5-02 Dodge Cummins

Looks like the special is still available at the time of this posting.

I would hate to think these would be knock-offs since they are still doing business based upon Mr. Harry's reputation of being a dodge/cummins performance pioneer and providing great customer service in the past.

With that said, probably would have to at least call PDR and verify these are new and come in genuine bosch boxes before purchasing them though.

Thought I had heard a rumor that Piers was working on a new venture, but could just be rumor only.

The set I got from Rip at sourceautomotive. biz have been running excellent and did come in genuine individual bosch boxes.

Injectors have arrived

The injectors arrived yesterday. Not in any Bosch labled box(es). Did look at the injectors for identifying marks. Injectors have the Bosch symbol and part number on them. Have yet to call and verify. None the less, I will install and see how they perform. Since totaling my 01' HO and purchacing a 00' six speed, I have averaged 22. 08 over 10 tanks of fuel. Average driving speed is 61-62 with 95% interstate driving. Will install and see how the numbers go. Mainly looking for mileage. Will get the Smarty down the road in hopes to optimize mileage. Do a little towing. 73' 27ft. Airstream.

I'm sure if you got them from PDR, they are the real deal.

sorry i wasnt ranting about pdr's injectors it was Pensacola Diesels injectors and the quote box didnt work i have no thought about the quality of pdr's injectors they seem fine to me i have buddys that are running them now.

Pensicola Diesel has them for $250+shipping on ebay. Brand new ones, no core charge.

stay far far away from those injectors! i bought a set and they suck i recived a bad one out my six and they told me "oh no we check all of them before they go out" ok now what "take the injectors to your local injection house and have them pop test" i told the guy he was nutz it cost more than the set to pop 3 of them and correct the problem.

long story short do not buy! over 250 bucks down the drain and no help

talk to stan at red oak he has the injectors and he said they left out a peice inside. cheep china crap!

How would you know if 1 is bad?

Finally Installed

Installed the injectors this weekend. Not a difficult job. Appx 2. 5 hours. :)

Only have 60 miles on them. Will take it easy :-laf on this tank to get a good mileage reading, as I normally drive 110 miles round trip to work, 5 days a week, appx. 98 miles of interstate @ 61-62 mph. On the two tanks of fuel before changing injectors, mileage was 22. 88 and 23. 07. Looking for another 1mpg from the injectors.

Drove it about 6 miles after completion to check for leaks and see if there is a real difference in power. As for seat of the pants improvement in power, can't really tell. It is noticeably quiter with a different sound. Seemed to smoke slightly @ idle.

Install tips: Not in correct order: 1) Don't loosen the aft bolt on the injector retainer, just remove the front bolt, lift and pull the retainer out & reverse & retorque when installed. 2) Mark the 19mm tubing nut with a good marker on to the head or down the tubing with a witness mark and just retighten back in line. Not to specs, 28 ft/lbs, but had no leaks. :D 3) Remove the valve cover on the passengers side, just press down the coolant hose, slide it to your left, pull it fwd, and it comes right out.

Will post some mileage numbers in a couple of weeks. Will run 400-500 miles and refill 2, maybe 3 times for an mpg average while driving like an old man, apologizes to the old men.

The only thing I can really tell on this whole mileage dilema is...

We trade time for $

The slower we drive, the longer it takes to get there, it may be worth 2-5 MPG to get there HOURS early?

Just my . 02

Time/Money

Have you seen the movie CARS? If not, it is a good one. It may take a GAZILLION MILES to pay for the injectors. Not really in a HURRY to get to work, so I leave a bit early and arrive a bit early. The traffic in DALLAS is NUTZ#@$%! sometime. I also have a 4 year old son that loves to ride in the front seat with me and TALK, HOLD MY HAND AND TELL ME HE LOVES ME AND LOVES BEING WITH ME Oo. Oo. Oo. It is a time not to be in a hurry. He likes to point out the SEMI trucks, very fond of SCHNEIDER trucks, has a special name for them, piekel, piekel, pronounced PEE-KUL PEE-KUL. Can tell a Dodge from a FORD from a CHEVY. To me that is priceless. To be HONEST, TIME/MONEY/MPG, I'll take my TIME to save some MONEY and get a little better MPG. :-laf
