How much more power will i gain by installing 370 marine injectors and a #11 camplate, over the stock camplate and stock 5-speed injectors?

John, are you saying the plate and injectors will only give you 100 HP, I'm at 292 right now! I better get some good HP out of injectors and DV's or I'll be:mad:

Jim

Just guessing!

A stock 96 5sp (215hp) should do (have done) 180 - 190 to the rear wheels. A #11 plate should bring that upto 280 - 340 depending on position of the plate (mine did 346hp). I am guessing on the injectors but I would guess at least another 40 which would be 320 - 380hp.

That is 190 to 320 on the conservative side. That is almost a 100% gain. I think you will like it!

JJW-ND,

Was that estimation (280-340 HP) with the plate in stock (280), then fully forward (340) position or some other?

My '98 5spd with the #11 equivalent from Bully Dog Tech. (Stage 1, rated at 287HP) did 247 HP on a Mustang dyno last year. Only other mods were an Amsoil foam air filter, the TST elbow in the turbo line, and the AFC star wheel backed off some.

Since then I've added a few more (see sig. ). I'll be checking it again on the same dyno this weekend.

With the number 11 in my stock 97 5 speed I went 326HP.

I installed some DD3's and gained 26HP and went to 352.

The DD3's are about 8HP lower than the 370's.

I dont know, I had not changed anything but I could feel the increase in power and in Vegas I could leave looong twin black streaks in 3rd gear by just mashing it after it was already in gear at 20mph, it wont do it here, of course my big tool box wasnt sitting by the tailgate then either.

Dean picked up 50 hp in Vegas also for no known reason.

Should you upgrade the turbo before putting 370's in? ex: larger housing?---- I'm considering 370's but my EGT is 1400* at full throttle . Rick

RJ, with my #4 in the stock position my egt's are 1300 till 3k or so then they peg the guage, that will give you some idea.

Jim: what does "Air in work" mean?

The 370s increase max egt; fuel=power=heat.

If you already have 1400 deg. you need air system upgrades to match the fuel upgrades. Step 1 is a 16 cm2 housing on the HX35, step 2 is the HX40, perferably perfectly balanced by someone like Pius, then head porting and DD camshaft.

Joe,

we talked before about dv's. i think i might try the 191's since i have the 180 pump. those dv's and the 370's. i also have been considering the PDR hx-35. would this turbo help at all or should i wait and get an hx-40?

thanks, du$ty

I have driven heavily fueled ISB's with both the PDR HX-35 and the PDR HX-40... . the 40 lags a bit... . but that is to be expected.

Both trucks also had fresh DTT convertors in them too... . I find that my stock transmission allows the turbo to spool... . but none of the power is making it to the ground... it's all going up in heat

You need to try to figure out what your eventual goal with the truck is... . For everyday driving and not all-out-racing... . the 40 spools a bit slow. The 35 spools like crazy... and was enough to keep EGT's at bay with DDIV's and a Comp box set to "holy crap"... .

HTH,

Matt

Matt,

it definately helps! most of the time i'm empty. i do more spurting around than anything and would like the fast spool up more than the (more lag/ EGT controler), so if it can keep you cool enough with your comp up and the dd5's then i think i might start with the PDR hx-35 (it's also a considerably cheaper route). thank you so much for the info man, will it be a big difference form the stock hx-35 though, i know there will be a diff but how big exactly?

later, du$ty

Well, neither of the trucks that were heavily fueled and had PDR turbos were mine... . so I don't get to drive them every day. I only drove them on the highway and can note how long they took to spool in comparison to my truck (when it was stock... ).

The one with the PDR HX-35 spooled just like a stock truck... . only better..... you really get pushed back into the seat once it hits... . but that's just because of the added fuel/power. The PDR HX-40 hits REALLY hard once it's up into its sweet spot..... it didn't really start to turn on until 65mph... . but from there until 115mph it was ALL PULL!!

The owners of the two trucks would probably be able to field the questions better than I am able to... . I'm sure they'd be more than happy to talk about their trucks... :)

DDV's and PDR HX-35 = "BigDaddy"

DDVII's and PDR HX-40 = "JES"
