I used a metric bolt about 5" long, M14 x 1. 5 thread. Put a Dodge dually lugnut from the 1980s on it with its flange against the head of the bolt. You use the underneath of the flange to slide the nut with thumb and a finger. This lug nut has a 5/8 fine thread so it fits over the bolt. It is the hammer for this slide hammer. Get a long M14 x 1. 5 lug nut to thread onto the bolt and the injector top.
 
i built my own slide hammer. Andy from ADT saw it in Muncie but couldnt guess what it was for :rolleyes: BTW Andy, it works and i'll put one in the mail for ya :D



if i can remember to take a few pics of it i'll post them here for you to see it. it was pretty easy to make and works good enough to not pitch in the scrap pile :D

The reason I couldn't guess what it was is because you always come up with the greatest inventions and everything you build yourself is always so cool... :cool:



A simple injector slide hammer was the last thing on my mind...



I machined a small piece that goes over the injector allowing the threads to protrude through. Screw a nut on the top of the injector and voila... :D :D :D



I would love to try your slide hammer Todd. Send me one down...

Here is a pic of the injector slide hammer I mad a few years ago ... this is the original ... . I have made several others and sent them around to other members ... who know where they are now ... works like a champ!

i'll make you one up and put it in the mail. we'll have to have a vote. mine Vs. kieth's but he used aero quip stuff to make his look cool. i guess i better get out the airbrush and put a flame job on mine or something :D how about i pull on your patriotic strings and paint it red white and blue for an independence day release date LMAO

Wow is this a blast from the past! 6-12-02 that what power level I was at? I'd bet I had more money then!



Thread on the injectors is M14 1. 5 pitch, grab a few nuts and some 3/4 conduit and you have an injector puller... . simple stuff!

I second the old post part ha... I finally swapped in these "370"'s I had into my '96 and slid teh plate full forward and cranked the start wheel. . no haze at idle and hardly any smoke . . also egts top out at 1100 to 1200... so i think these are not 370s?... mummn I'm curious i may have to pull one out again and disassemble on to check th etip #. . any ideas?

Deo, I dont have any idle haze either. Smoke past idle is heavier though, did you notice a performance increase between the two?
 
well i slide the stock plate forward at the time so yes i felt a difference. . the clutch will slip if i get on it hard right when i shift from a start... if i drive normal no slip... but the egt is between 6-8oo on flat ground if i egg shell or granny drive i can do egt of 400 or so just driving at flat ground... on a hill just maintaining speed not accel i get 1000 egt... if i romp on it hard from a start till about 95mph egt maxes at about 1400 if that ... not much smoke boost can hit 40 psi. . drive pressure is almost 55-60 psi at 40 lbs boost... mummn i'm not 100 % sure i have 370s or not no haze little or no smoke . . my part #'s are posted above... so not sure ... mpg is 14 if i drive bad if i drive like grandma and do 55mph i get 17. 5...

oh and egt is pre turbo

The 370's have a very distinct nozzle (for the funky marine pistons and their goofy spray pattern). They are night/day different from the OEM 215hp injectors you removed.



My old (crashed) computer has some pics on it of my 370's and 5x. 015" EDM's side-by-each. I really need to see about getting those pics. I never got a chance to post them.



Yank the plate and take it for a rip. If you don't have smoke after that - you've got some bigger fish to filet.
