No, wasn't me Piers. :D

It was Garys white 97 Dually. When he was up in your neck of the woods last time, his pump was inspected & the rack was hitting wrong. We tore into it & sure enough, it was hitting @ the deepest part of the plate. Being the experts we are, we adjusted the top adjuster 1st!

We think he's got AFC issues. Good mid & top end, but nada down low.

No Nationals for me, I am at the bottom of "B" class, gotta get better than that to go for the Nationals. Would be fun though.

cummon guys let me in, I am finally one of you guys now ... ... ...

I got a #11 on a 215 truck, what can I do next ?????

ya I will be callin ya piers, cause I did get me a truck

he he he

John, You don't have to be a master to go to nationals. Shooting the nationals would be great fun and a very good experiance. I am actually shooting Both Limited and Open this year.

Brandon,

Here's the way to go...

Gauges EGT and Boost, 370 Injectors or DD#3s, 16 cm2 Housing or possibly Piers Hybred, Governer Spring kit, and some where in there a South Bend Clutch.

Truck has always seemed like it had less power right off the line than others I've driven. It has a bit of a hesitation sometimes, just when you first get going in 2nd gear, then it kicks in and bucks all of a sudden. Pretty annoying, especially w/the Joe D brass clutch. Stock 215 hp w/a TST #10 (stock position), AFC spring kit w/reccomended spring (medium?) 4" exhaust, and a K&N in the stock box. The stumble was always there, but got worse with mods. Fuel pressure is good.

I thought this adjustment may be the cure. Pulled off the AFC, and took a look. The lever never touches the plate, when you move the throttle by hand, it gets real close, a little ways up the plate from the tip at the bottom. Then it starts to move away. From reading the instructions this is not what I expected, I thought with more throttle it would just stay against the plate. Any ideas? Is the pump jacked? Would sure like to finger out what the heck is going on.

Thanks,

Pete

Looking at the directions some more, I'm starting to wonder if the thing is adjusted to high, and can't reach the cam plate due to the severe angle of the #10 plate, and the fact that I'm checking it with the motor a 0 rpm. I should also add that this truck is capable of a serious amount of smoke on the bottom end sometimes if you aren't careful.

Pete

pcorssmit,

Good question.

I noticed the same thing on my truck. The rocker won't actually touch the plate, at least when the truck is off. it comes close then backs off again. I didn't need to adjust the lever though. It was lined up right on the highest point on the first step on the plate.

I wonder if this is normal?

Hemi & pcorssmit,

I believe my throttle lever does the same thing. I have always assumed it was normal.

Here is a little info I found out last week:

I checked with Piers about doing the adjustment with a #10 plate. I thought about what his instruction said about the nose on the cam plate, and recalled the #10 doesn't have a nose. It is just a big valley. There isn't a place for the lever to get stuck on a #10 like on the other plate, unless of course it falls under it. I don't know if that is possible or not??? He said he had no problems with people running the #10 like yourself.

Thanks. I decided to button mine back up for the night, its getting dark and I'll need to drive it shortly.

BTW this truck runs the stock 215 injectors.

Pete

Piers, Those are great pictures and the instructions are top notch. However that plate thingie fell out of my pump long, long ago:rolleyes: I need Super Top Secret info now, I guess:D:D

With the #10 plate thing, I too wonder about it being too high. The #10 does not have a nose. An maybe no one is getting stuck under the plate, causing loss of bottom end. But if it was too high, then you could be too far into the fueling curve down in the bottom end causing the "too much smoke" problem. -- The thing I notice is with the plate in the stock position smoke is not bad and controlable. But slide that thing even the slightest bit forward and you can loose a large truck back there with out even trying. Slide it all the way forward and you black out the city of Everett. -- Anyways the too high thing with a #10 got me thinking.....
