I had been looking around Denver quite hard lately for a 2500 Laramie and found a red one shortly after it was sold. I was having a very hard time finding a six speed long box anywhere. I was getting told there were a couple in Wyoming that might be available. So, I kept calling around asking dealers what they had and ended up calling Valley Dodge in Boulder. I asked it they had anything I might be interested in, so the guy told me he had a black 3500 SRW, Laramie, 4x4, six speed long box. I shot on over to take a look and it was tucked back into the corner and had been sitting there for a while. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was a Sport. I told him the Costco program dealers where offering me invoice plus $500. But I told him I would only by it if they swapped bumpers. They said they couldn't, so I said I won't pay for the sport package. So I got the truck for invoice + $100, and then $3500 in rebates and the 5/100,000 for cost. Chrysler gave me 7. 5% financing, but I am going to refinance with my credit union at 4. 95%. hehe

Anyway, my first impressions

It is tight and solid. Impressed with the feel. I averaged about 16. 5mpg on my way home and its all mountain driving for the most part. I also threw in some hard accelerations.

Shifting is stiff but I imagine that will loosen up. I think I am going to get that short shift kit pretty quickly.

I like the seat warmers, and the dual climate control. I am going to have them install an RB-1 with sirius next week sometime, plus a bedliner.

I do have one question. Another guy bought a truck that wasn't a sport. He wanted a sport however and he is willing to swap bumpers. Do the bumpers cme with fog lights or will I have to give mine up?

Congrats!

I have had mine for about three months (7,000 miles) and it still puts a grin on my face every time I nail the throttle :)

Yahoo! Great deal! I wish i was so lucky to get that type of milage upon leaving the point of purchase. I got 9 mpg's from LAS Vegas to Lake Havasu City. Ahh, Colorado, green trees, cool temps and snow! Enjoy your ride. Cant wait to hit a few runs in Aspen and Snow Mass!

Congrats on the new ride. My SLT has fog lights but they were an option. I wouldnt go without them. I never knew what I was missing until I had them. They are great.

Whats funny about the fog lights is that I spent at least 20 miles trying to figure out where the switch was. I had to pull out and actually read the manual! Who would've thought that book is so useful! LOL

What do you guys think. Should I keep the Sport bumpers and grill, or trade them to the chrome?

Does anyone have invoice cost for the RB1 and Sirius Radio?

If that was all the better mileage I got with my rig, " I would trade it for a dog, then I would shoot the dog!!!" Just kidding, I would send him to the pound. :D :D

Personally,

I like the sport package, but should you choose to swap, you will get all kinds of interested takers. The fog lights are optional on the SLT, so either swap with someone with fogs or keep yours.

Cheers,

Dave

Where did you get the extra $1000 in rebates. I thought that there was just the $2500 rebate and a possible $500 farm bureau. .

The 5/100,000 was $1845 I believe.

The extra $1,000 was from financing through chrysler. They gave me 7. 5% but my credit union will give me 4. 5% so I will be refinancing soon:)

The shift will get better with a few miles, although I thought it was smooth from the start, with 5000 on the odo it has got even better, so has the MPG.

I seem to recall a post on TDR regarding problems with the short shift that caused the member to re-install the stock shift, I can't remember what the problem was but you might post the question and do a little research before proceding with that.

Enjoy your truck.

When I bought mine last week the $1000 to finance through Chrysler was only good on the gassers and not the diesels. Guess the game changed after the 1st of the month. Wish I could have know to save another $1000 and then refinance after 3 payments.
