went to the dealer to buy a FOB, because my son when he was around 2, lost it somehow, don't think i did it.....so the dealer set me back 231.00 for the key.....anyways they told me there were several recalls on the truck...steering linkage, reprogram ecm-obd readiness, and left outer tie rod assembly...does the dodge corporation not send notices anymore on recalls....I dont go to the dealer very often so i would not no of any issues....guess i have to take my truck in one of these days....:{

Check your mail box, a lot of us got them for the steering. The rest aren't recalls so you won't get a notice.

If you still have the OE y-type steering the recall does not apply. The OBD readiness is really only for where you would have to smog it and one of the PIDS was not turned on. Haven't missed much by not going to the dealer.

There are internet places that sell OEM key fobs for much list with instructions on how to program. We got two GM ones for around 50 bucks. Chris

FYI,
called my dealer today to get the left outer tie rod recall checked (not replaced).
This recall (according to him) was put on temporary hold until further notice while the "fix" is (re) engineered. New notices will be forthcoming.
I have no reason to doubt him. Known him personnally for 20 years.
just thought I'd pass this on.

FYI,
If you go to this site http://www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.html
in the "your vehicle" box there is a link for recall information.
there is also a link for 'equipment listing" aka: build sheet.

Has your address changed lately? Your dealer can look you up and verify the address and change as required in the factory's database.

If you have the t type steering you are due a left AND right tie rod end. However, if they are installed correctly there are no documneted issues. The updated parts are in short supply, most dealers were allowed to do 1 recall per week. Not a serious thing so you are porbably good. Unles the tie rod is bad then that is another story. :)

Only make left hand turns and you will be OK for the time being. Its when a RIGHT hand turn is executed that you have to worry. LOL!!

from my understanding you need the dealer to reprogram this FOB....and from a former parts guy ( friend ) the keys you buy on the internet sometimes dont work......

Been there, done that. Dealer charged me $239.00 for new key and programming. The programming was $85.00 of the total. I ordered two more spare keys, just the keys without the remote atached for around $19.00 each, if you have two working keys you can program the key yourself, takes longer to walk to the truck from the house than it does to program. My spare keys are over eight years old and have worked flawlessly. The instructions to program new keys is in the owners manual. The keys come uncut of course so I had to take them to a locksmith. Some are fussy about cutting someone elses transponder keys but most will oblige. bg
