bought Edge EZ today, help with hookup

Will arrive tomorrow, some (new) members seem to have trouble with the directions. Do I unplug something and plug the box in its place and plug something else in? What about the elbow? Does this go on the turbo. Can I do all of this from above? I have a 2002 with manual trans. I am anxious to get it in place. thanks in advance

my experience

if you look on the left front side of engine near vac pump by front cover there is the service port for the engine ecm there should be to plugs match up the plugs to the box there may be dead head plugs in them ( to keep dirt out) and plug in at the map sensor left rear of engine unplug it plug the box plug in and plug the box end in to the other end I already had the waste gate by passed from previous box and it is on a 99 I think the 02 have a hard line not sure how to bypass it hope this helps the EDGE BOX ROCKS you will like it

I haven't yet (20,000 miles and counting). My EGT's have never been above 1200° F and that only for a short time.

Before you hook up the MAP plug, place some dielectric grease on the 3 pins. Trust me on this.

If you don't use dielectric grease then you might set a code for the MAP sensor and the dealer will be able to see this.

Why not put in the boost elbow?

It comes with instructions, that are simple. I have had my EZ on for 6mo or so now. I put the elbow on and have not taken it off. I know Edge says it is not necessary, but why not use it? Higher boost=Lower EGT's, which is always good, also higher boost=more air=more power.



P. S. In all my experiences with Dodge Cummins pickups, the EZ is the quickest, easiest, and best mod I have ever added. I know others (i. e. Comp) will give you more, but it would also cost me a lot more (clutch, turbo, exhaust, intake, etc. ). I have a set of gauges, but they are the big 2. 5", I hooked up the pyro after installing the EZ, and could not get over 1000 deg. I took the big ugly gauge off, and would not hesitate to run an EZ with out gauges on any HX35 equipped truck. Edge hit a homerun with the EZ. When I get more money I will add a set of injectors, 4" exhaust, new gauges, southbend clutch, and a different air cleaner, but the EZ is staying.

Just installed my EZ last week--even with putting the elbow on the turbo only took about 1/2 hour... . plan to go to stealer today to get the !@#$ fuel pump checked--so will disconnect and stick under the seat..... R, J. B.

Will the EZ make any difference in MPG? I just got a 2001. 5 6 speed last week and I am getting about 16 MPG (according to the trip computer). 16 isn't bad but I was hoping for better. I will spend the bucks if I can see a noticeable increase, will I get that?



Are there any other things that can be done to increase fuel mileage?

Carl, congrats on the new truck! Now what you need to do is drive it like you stole it! Well not quite, but certainly don't baby it. Just don't run around full throttle for hours on end. If you can hook up to a moderate load (around 5 - 6,000 lbs) and drag it around for several hundred miles at a time during the first few thousand miles, that will really break the motor in right. And you will see an increase in mileage. 16 on a new dually really isn't all that bad. When I first bought mine I was getting 10 driving back from OK to MT. I was ******!! After pulling my car a couple thousand miles, my mileage went to 16, then it just kept getting better the more mods I added. I now get 20 if I can keep my foot out of it.



Yes the EZ will give you better mileage, that box has got to be the best single improvement you can buy. Also getting rid of the stock choker airbox will help, even with just the EZ, turbo will spool quicker and the motor will run cooler.

I love the truck. Actually though, its used and already broken in. I has 48000 miles and did tow a load (5th wheel).



I put a K&N filter in, but I did not replace the factory air box. Should I. Just putting the K&N in did not make a noticable improvement on the mileage.



It is stock except for a Jake-Brake. I assume that does not have an affect on performance, as long as it is off.



Also, I am basing my mileage off the trip computer, I have not been through a tank on my own yet. Is the trip computer accurate?



I just did a 200 miles on the new tank of fuel, 100 on the highway (65) and 100 doing some city/some highway. I am getting 16. 4 MPG, the highway trip brought it down a bit from 16. 7 MPG.



It is a great truck though, and I am not too upset about the mileage.

Install The Boost Elbow !

Install the elbow, you won't regret it.

I love the throttle response with this product, the best bang for the buck. However, on a 2002, the data connector is in FRONT of the fuel filter! Believe me, it took 25 minutes to FIND this thing, it was taped behind the main harness and you could not see it from above or below. The instructions said behind the fuel filter or behind the power steering pump. I am not faulting the manufacturer, just pointing this out to 2002 owners to save them valueable time on hookup. it's hard to not get anxious to test when you have 2 out of 3 connections made and you can't find the last one!

I'm With Emarsh !

My expectations were pretty high but I was Dazzled with the difference in performance. It was like a whole different powertrain. I really loved how it comes on strong at the lower end, perfect when the 5th wheel is hooked up. I pull hills in 6th that used to require 5th. I love it.
