Bought it, can't get it 3500 MEGA

Bought the truck on Friday, was to take delivery today. Service called and said that DC sent out a do not deliver message on the 2006 megas because of a problem with a fitting on fuel tank causing contamination. Parts have been shipped just waiting for them to arrive.



Sounds like the problem posted on this site before about a OPEN fitting ?vent on the long bed fuel tanks... ... . ?do the MEGAs have the long bed fuel tank since they are on the long wheel base chassis.



Also on the test drive, I did the dash indicator light/code check with the trip odometer reset. Found 2 codes (battery Temp and long crank codes)



Best part was the look on the salesman's face when all the lights lit up and the gauges started to dance!



Oh well, gives me a chance to get my trade down to fumes.



Service has been real nice and apologetic... ... ... . Why be mad at them, they did not create the problem.

do the MEGAs have the long bed fuel tank since they are on the long wheel base chassis.

The tank on the Mega Cab trucks is a short bed tank. I think it has something to do with how far back the rear of the cab extends as opposed to how long the wheelbase is.

checking codes

how do you check the codes on a mega cab? on my 04. 5 i did the cycle key 3 times thing. tried that on my 2006 and nothing. thanks... . james

What is that test? How do you do it?

Key off, Hold trip reset on gauge display (instrument panel), turn key to ON, not start, and watch the show. Will test all indicator lights, speedo, Tach, codes will display in milage window

I found this trick shortly after I got my truck last year it's pretty neat. However does anyone know what the codes are that display? This is a different code than what you would get if you did the, turn the key three times trick.

Turning the key on three times works on my mega.....

Picked it up yesterday. WHAT a difference from my 03, better ride (longer wheelbase) better acceleration, trans shifting is much smoother... ... ... ... the kids want to know if I will hang a basketball net in the back... enough room back there to play it!
