Well, several stories later as to why the truck I ordered back in December isn't here, and new ones being delivered to dealers everyday. I found one close to what I ordered and bought it this last weeked. It was getting too close to camper pulling time to wait any longer.
The truck, I felt had many improvements over the "99" auto which I haven't seen addressed on the sight before. Like:
The HO Cummins seems quieter to me, even inside the cab it seems quieter. Plus the 1900 - 2100 drone is not there.
The 6-speed is nice, I will fully appreciate the full benefit when I get the 5ver connected up. But the nicest thing is I have engine braking all the way down until I dis-engage the clutch.
Ride is about the same and ride height is about a 1/2'" taller with the 265s v. s the 245s.
BIG SURPRISE is that you get HEAT within a couple of miles compared to the "99" that took forever. Whatever they did to accomplish this I appreciate it.
Body fit -- superb compared to "99" and NO body noises or suspension noise. New truck is Mexican built, "99" was St Louis built.
Steering -- can't tell yet. Wind has been 20 plus mph and the roads I travel have been experiencing heaving (spring break-up)so you get thrown side to side anyway and ya have to keep correcting.
Fuel mileage -- TBD, winter fuel, strong winds, lousy roads, it looks to be where the "99" was last winter before the VA CPC was installed.
Get-Up-And-Go -- I would say right now it feels like the "99" Auto with the VA CPC. Maybe a tad less.
Hey, this ended up being longer than intended, gotta go run an errand. Just an excuse to drive truck again.
