I have a '01 with a A/T and I can't seem to power brake the thing. The stock transmission had about 170k miles on it so I thought maybe it was time for a rebuild. I had a local shop rebuild the unit trans and install a HD torque convertor and a shift kit in the valve body. After all that money I still can't smoke like all my brethern. Even with my Hypertech on stage 3 the truck will climb to around 2k RPM and just sit there when I try to power brake it. Any ideas??????

BD RAD box will do away with your tq management. Might want to consider a little hotter fueling box to get the power up.

The way I understand it is that the ecm needs to see wheel speed before alowing the ecm to allow more fueling. Built in chassis protection from DC ;) . I have heard of people letting it roll a bit then stomping on the go pedal and then brake, to break the rubbers loose :-laf .

A BD-RAD box or a smarty will rid of the de-fueling..... it only does it in 1st and 2nd gear.

just keep in mind you can break the input and or out-put shafts in the trans doing a power break.

I know what you mean. . couldn't seem to do it with just the comp either, but then again sometimes its nice b/c you mash it and it goes versus just spining the tires. . good for squashin d-max's and furds :-laf The smarty will do the trick. I tried a temp download and smoked the tires at half throttle with the comp on level 2x2  good investment. . i'm saving for one myself

I'm saving cans and bottles as we speak. I downloaded a loaner Smarty and lower end power was impressive but most impressive was the endless higher RPM. It just keeps coming on. The only thing I had problems with was stoplights. You really have to feather the throttle to avoid hazing out the guy behind you. Luckily I've already got the DTT as the lower end throttle response will fry a stock transmission with low RPM line pressure. Truly a remarkable device.
