I am considering purchasing a set of Boyd's wheels. However, I know one owner who bought a set of Juggernauts that absolutely would not balance. He talked with Boyd himself who refused to balance them or replace them. Besides the fact that they are ~$2k a set, what is the consensus on the Offroad series wheels? I am looking for something rather out of the ordinary. Seems as if there are loads of Eagle 589/Mickey Thompson Classic IIs running around, and I want something a little different. Other suggestions are welcome.

I know how you feel man. I also want some Boyd Cottington wheels. I want the 18" eight hole rims. To me they look like the cleanest pair of bullet hole wheels that are out on the market. Also they make chrome wheels. I am tired of polishing aluminum wheels. I think some 18" Extreme Alloys/Pro Comp chrome 6079 will be the next wheels for my "whip. " They are about $225 a wheel. They are at 4wheelparts.com Some Nitto Mud Grapplers would really finish it off too.

I have a set of Boyds on my truck. I am tired of polishing the detail and I had to send one back too Boyds. The wheel developed a crack at the valve stem and stopped holding air. I sent it off in Dec. 04 and still havent heard anything to date!

Never...

Have you ever watched the Boyd's TV show? (American Hot-Rod) What a group of Jag-offs. I wouldn't want them to build me a doghouse! Every time I've seen that show their ace machinist is crashing something else. You couldn't give me a set of thier wheels. (well, maybe... ) :-laf

I've watched the show and Boyd Coddington is the biggest jerk I have ever seen. He treats his employees like crap and creates impossible deadlines for no good reason. I'm amazed that anyone would ever work for him or that his company is still in business. I will never buy anything associated with Boyd Coddington. In fact I advocate a Boyd Coddington boycott by all TDR members!

Sounds like you are ready for the Weld/Toyo combo and a Kore race system Steve.

Hey Greg,

I'm halfway there. I got the KORE chase system coming w/ a FOX stabilzer and sway bar drop links. Hopin' to get the Toyo/Weld combo by May (waitin' for the 315 BFG's to wear out). I got it through your buddy Fred. Super Guy! Saw him today he was puttin' some PDR twins on an '04.

Yo hoot,

Ok you live in PA. the aluminums have more of a maintenance to do... so what... . Lets see what those chrome rims look like after a few of your winters. I have had chrome rims before and they all rust from the inside...

I live in Salt Lake City and I just bought (on order anyway) The Ricksons 19. 5" 10 hole classic rims and F rated Michelins. I love polishing my truck... . Wheels included...

Fred is my guy for installs in the state of AZ. I trained him the way Kent and I do installs. He will do a great job and I trust him fully. Cant find a nicer guy either.

Enjoy Blake,

I had chromed Hummer wheels on my 01 Dmax... they pitted in about 6 months. But they were aftermarket "cheapo" plated.

Do good expensive chromed aluminum wheels hold up?

It's strange how everyone rips the quality of the boyd coddington wheels, and found it interesting that someone suggested a weld wheel instead. Has anyone noticed that Boyd Coddington works in the marketing department for Weld? I wonder where exactly those wheels are made, or what kind of crossover there is.

Have no experience with chromed aluminum... . How about a forged aluminum rim that has the coating on it like the stockers?
