Well, the random vibration finally go on my nerves enough to take it to the dealer. They told me there is a "bracket" they need to install under the truck to fix the problem (it is on national backorder). I asked the service guy if he was talking about the power steering snubber, and he said no because he was sure they had to put the truck on a lift to install it. Anybody else heard of this?

I haven't heard of it but that would be nice! I have the vibration. I did note in earlier posts that some dealerships have installed 'extra rubber' on the transmission mounts to cure some vibrations. Maybe the bracket is associated with the transmission mount in some way.....

The bracket they are refering to is a 1"spacer that fits between the carrier bearing and the bracket. It's part number is 5135709-AA. It worked on mine, eliminated the 70 mph vibration and the launch shudder. I'm happy now except for the crappy mileage.

No kidding Oo. Thanks for the info, I'll be giving my dealer a call tomorrow!

The spacer really should only fix the launch shudder. The 70 mph vibrations are generally not second order (angle related) vibrations, but first order (balance) vibrations.

you must be new to the CTD owners group. My 2002 4X4 dually gave me 20 consistantley and my 99 and 97 ran 22. 17 to 18 is NOTHING to be happy about

Not true, if you read the letter from DCX pertaining to driveline angle with the different brackets available, at the very bottom there are two sentences regarding the 1" spacer. DC replaced my driveline due to 70mph vibration, which decreased the vibration but increased the launch shudder. The 1" spacer came about when the dealer was talking to DCX about the problem, apparently the bottom portion of the letter (notTSB) was missing. The dealer would not release the letter to me (confidential),or I would fax it to you.

Anyway, both problems are fixed, and at 10,000 miles the mileage really SUCKS eggs. Going in on thursday for the latest TSB to see if we can improve it.

My dealer ordered the bracket today and will give it a try to fix the vibration.

By the way I have a great dealership. They tried removing the front driveshaft, hanging weights on the exhaust and a number of other things to address the vibration. I am super-finicky about my trucks and they always listen to what complaints I have and fix them without arguing or a hassle. They are Newcaste Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep in Newcastle, Maine and I meet a lot of customers there that have driven a couple of hours just to access their shop. Nice folks too.

I also pulled all tires and had them balanced and rotated even though there was only a few miles on truck. Had the mileage reflash done this morning will know Saturday if mileage has improved. I am seriosly considering the Edge EZ, heard I could pick up some additional mpg
