OK I'm going insane here! My brake and ABS light keep flickering on, and sometimes just stays on. IT used to do it over bumps, now it doesn't matter. . Bumps will still set it off. The ABS system still seems to function normally. However, on Friday, the system activated when I belive it should not have. I was Slowly letting out the clutch, rolling up a small incline at a stop sign. I had to get back on the brakes and the ABS engaged. ALmost rolled into the road. The road was clean and dry.

A couple of weeks ago I changed out the sensor in the rear end. The top of the sensor did rotate a little, so it seemed broken. The Brake anbd ABS light did not come on for a couple of days. Then One afternoon, it started to illuminate with a vengence.

I OHMed out the front sensors and came up with 1922 and 1870 ohms. My 2000 Chasis diagnostics manual specs the sensors at 1000 - 1250 ohms, with a 30% correction factor for extreme heat or cold. It was about 35 Deg when I checked the sensors. Does anyone have the specs on the sensors for a 2002? Are they the same as the 2000 specs?

Any other ideas as to the possible causes? I have checked the wiring and grounds. the truck does not have a height-sensor in the rear.

i had a problem with mine . 98. 5 2500, with rw abs. changed the sensor , no fix checked wiring , found at left rear wheel , dc had clamped the harness to the rear sway bar, it chafed thru and was grounding out. have a look it might be the problem.

My ABS and brake light came one a couple of weeks ago so I did the same as you and ohmed the front sensors and came up with 1870 on one and 1865 on the other, so I replaced the one in the rear. Well that didn't fix it. Turns out it was the ABS controller. So I replaced that (second mortgage time) then the ABS light would just blink that’s when I found out the dealer must program it for the tire size and pinion factor. Basically, until you can read the codes from the ABS (as far as I know dealer only) you just can’t tell, as mine threw no OBDII codes.
