I thought that too, but the wheel bearings seemed just fine when I had them out.

sounds to me like you have a worn wheel bearing

mine did this for awhile and then I replaced the wheel bearing and found part of one of the sensors chewed up

Hi, don't know if you got this fixed yet, but my 2003 did same thing. The $50. 00 wheel speed sensor on top of the third member was and is the problem. Mopar sells a lot of these. Cheap plastic housing breaks and damages the very fine wire inside. Hope this helps.

this is exactly what my mechanic said about mine. very recently had major front end work done to the calipers/steering/axles/shocks, and when he was removing the hubs he had difficulty removing the drivers front, and in the process he thinks he damaged the sensor, he said the very fine wires in the sensor were probably damaged. my brake and abs lights have been on since, and it is more of an annoyance looking at them then anything. the rears never were removed, and besides, i dont have the guts of a parking brake anymore, i had to remove it last year when doing the rear brakes; it was rusted beyond recognition. . he has looked around, the sensor runs about 90 bucks or so. he ran it with a scan tool, no codes were found. .

I had the same problem with 06 just before going on vacation. ABS and brake light came on at the same time, in addition no speedo and no cruise control. Had sensors checked all good I was told it had to go to a dealer. Another shop I use had access to factory scanners and programmers, turned out to be ABS module. Here is the point of this replay. When they put the new module still no communication with it. What they found was different, when the module when south if blew a fuse. They stumbled on the fact that in fuse box this fuse is marked "spare". Once replaced the system work perfect all function is back. None of the manuals showed this so I though I would share. They did confirm old module was bad.

How are your battery connections? Makes no sense but i get an occasional code p2162 (i think) and with it I get brake and ABS lights on until i fix it.

thanks for that --- good to know

My module went also south, they are very cheap made and MUST break after a couple years, I opened mine for repair.

Don't buy a used one, it wont work because they are VIN programmed and a used one can't be programmed again.

Ask how I know....

Hey folks five years later the black tape works just fine over the dash indicators. Still here and truck brakes work just fine. Someone told me that the California Highway Patrol disconnects all the ABS off their patrol cars.
