2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake Caliper Size or Part Number?

I am fixin' to replace the occasionally sticky RF brake caliper on my 1996 4 x 4 manual. The Napa store I've contacted tells me that it will be one of two sizes. (Which is a real "huh?" factor for me. ) I'm told that the caliper will have a piston size of 3-1/4 inches or 3. 35 inches. I like to have the part on hand before I remove the old one. And, I'm pretty sure I can't tell the sizes apart easily, because I am not sure if the piston "shoe" is a true diameter or reduced.



Anybody have a part number or size for this application?

I just bought new ones for mine and the only thing I was asked was what the GVWR was when I called NAPA. I imagine the larger diameter goes with the higher GVWR for our trucks which the two are 7500(?) and 8800.

You might want to wait till you remove the old ones. I have a 98 and they ask what the GVWR was and I told them 8800# GVWR per sticker in the door post.

They did not fit and I had to go back and get the ones listed for the 7500# GVWR. I even checked my VIN # to double check my GVWR and it was 8800#. I don't know if they put in the wrong axle at the factory or what, but only the parts for the 7500# GVWR would fit my front axle. You might want to take the old ones with you anyways to keep from paying the core charge.

The core charge at NAPA was $55 each. Good luck!!!

The only thing that makes a difference is 2wd or 4wd and 7500 or 8800 gvw. You should need the bigger one you can also go on NAPA's website and get the part as well as look at a picture of the part.
