Brake Check!!

My brakes are getting tight, I'll explain: I hooked to my dump trailer shacking the wet sand out of it several times. Push hard on the brakes a lot. later when we went to town I noticed the brakes would apply at 1/4" of pedal deflection. Got to town checked rotors..... wow they were hot. went back home and found the calipers had pressure on a 4 disc rotors. Remove resivor cap and pulled all pistons of calipers in. This did help. A quick stop is all it takes to get pedal and brake drag back were it was.

Any suggestions? Im at a loss...

The first place to look is the power steering res cap. Run the truck for a while , shut down and pull the cap. If there is pressure under the cap it will put pressure on the master. Do a search on my fix under power steering cap. p

check master cylinder push rod at brake pedal for proper free play also.

I removed the PS cap... . there was pressure... that did help. How would the push rod get out of adjustment? Thanks for the comments

OK... . I cant find the directions to vent the power sterring cap! Can any one point me in the right direction?

I printed this off a long time ago... but there not in the glove box. I thought one day I would need them... and here I am

Isn't there a new cap that's vented? Seems like someone posted a P/N for one a while back.

Time for new calipers, they hung from heat, use, and age. Next you will get one to hang, not find it and bye bye rotor. The clipers have a finite lifetime with composite pistons. Once get them good and hot they will start sticking. Probably should do the hoses also

There will always be a little pressure in the fluid system and it really should not bother. The power boost system is not going to pressurize the MC unless something is bypassing pressure. If thats the case these things would burn brakes out immediately when. Far an away the biggest problem is calipers and the rubber brake hoses.

Thanks for all the comments, I pulled apart cap and used 40 grit sand paper the file some off the button. The brake pedal went back to normal. Thank you all... .
