Brake controler wiring

The wiring harness supplied with my 02 has 4 wires, the same as my brake controller. 3 are simple-brake, 12v & ground.

The 4th is confusing. the controller says "Stoplite" and the harness says "Vehicle Brake Sense"

Are they the same?

The controller has +; -; electric brake power (usually blue); and sensor (signal from the brake light switch at the pedal arm under the dash). The sensor may be white and tan (on my 97) on the truck harness and the + on mine was red/tan.

RClark - That description is engineer for I don't have any thing better to do than use big words that nobody understands so the buyer has to take the truck to the dealer to be told the brake controler he has won't work so the dealer can sell an over priced one with a much larger charge for installation! ----- I ran oudda' breath, but did you get all that?

In simple terms that we all understand, the brake sense wire is the one to hook to the contoller stop light wire!
