I've done a search and read all I could find on this issue. Some folks have said they mounted their Prodigy in the cubby hole ('06 Dually) below the AC/Heat control set. I'd like to mount there but dunno how you secure the controller in that cubby. It won't fit if snapped into the mounting bracket but fits nicely if just the controller is slid in. Perhaps it does not even need to be secured... seems to fit snugly, but I'd feel better if it was fastened down

Any advice on this and/or pics appreciated.

I tried to mount my Prodigy in the same cubby, but couldn't figure how to get the wires up there. I was going to attach it with double sided tape. I have a 4x4 with the shift lever, so I mounted is in the recess in front of of the lever. Enlarged the hole so that it would be recessed a little more.

I have an '05 and mounted my Prodigy in the cubby with the plastic, snap-in bracket. I removed the cubby to drill and mount the bracket and ended up adding a small screw pushing down at the back of the bracket to get the Prodigy to sit level. I made an opening at the top rear of the cubby behind the Prodigy large enough for the connector to fit through.

The pic should give a good visual on how mine is mounted. As mentioned already some have had to open the plastic behind the controller to recess the Prodigy. The picture somewhat shows the wiring route. There's a small hidden hole I routed the wiring through. I think I taped the wiring together to help snake it through.

I move my Prodigy between my motorhome and my truck. In the truck, I am using industrial velcro on the snap in holder and the knee bolster just above the go pedal. If you make sure to let the velcro adhesive set up at least 24 hours before mounting the two, the controller will nt pull loose. This way, I can hide the controller under the center "seat" cushion. I'll try to post pics this evening.

I mounted my Prodigy on the knee bolster to the left of the steering wheel. Doesn't seem to be in the way and I am tall (6'6").

Mine is mounted exactly like this. It was a pain to get the wires up thru there but the finished product made the effort worth it... ... Oo.

I mounted my Prodigy in the cubby without the bracket and like RMachida I removed the cubby and drilled a hole for the wire harness and connector but I also added velcro to the cubby to help hold the Prodigy in place. I can remove it to use in another vehicle if needed and it fits nice and snug in the cubby. Works great!

You can remove the rubber liner for the cup holder/tray and there will be 3 screws underneath. Remove those and lift the cup holder piece out. Then remove the 2 screws holding the molding around the gear shift, the boot just pops out. Then you will see the screws holding the cubby in, remove those and it will drop out.

I cut a rectangle hole in the back to recess the Prodigy and drilled to holes for the bracket. Used screws and nuts to hold the bracket so not to pull out of the plastic. Removing this also makes pulling the wire a cinch.

Check my thread "Install Done" to see a picture.

AWay,

Went to that post and see what you did. Actually what I was/am talking about is mounting it in the rectangular cubby to the right of the cig. lighter. It fits nicely in there albeit w/o the bracket. Dunno if it'd be OK to just have it snug in there w/o fastening it down, but the real trick is fishing the wires thru a hole one must drill in the back or bottom of the cubby hole. Does that cubby hole come out when you remove the pieces you described above?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

Now I know where your going. No, that piece is a couple more screws and clips up, but you can get there. Just remove everything like I did and then keep on going. It's pretty easy once you find the screws.
