Help - I cannot figure out how to disconnect the brake controller harness from the connecter under the dash of my 03. My controller died and I want to install a better one... . but danged if I can figure out how to get the harness off. I know I don't absolutely have to disconnect it. I can just cut the wires and reconnect the new controller. However, i might want to get a new harness to go with a Prodigy controller. Plus it's a principle thing.

Anyone disconnected one of these yet?

Thanks

on the side of the plug there is a tap (tward the drivers side) that you push tward the pass. side and it releases the plug. I had the same issue when I installed my prodigy controller. take care, John J.

Oh by the way. . be careful if you cut the wires... there is a "hot" wire there (white with red tracer) and if you cut them all together you will fry your harness! Cut the wires seperate and keep the wires from grounding out. I hope this helps.

You won't "fry" your harness. DC isn't stupid enough to build a truck with an unfused circuit. You'll just pop the fuse.

Thanks for the info guys. I will try to disconnect the harness the right way and not cut any wires if at all possible. I just couldn't see up in there to tell how to release the connector.

Nother question: Can the prodigy controller be bought with a new pigtail harness to plug in at controller and truck harness ends? That would make a clean install with no crimp connectors.

Thanks again

Yes you can . . have that in mine . . Bought harness at Campers world although there are other cheaper places as well. . BTW this will install a snap.

Just use a little solder and heat shrink tunbing. Clean install.
