Has anyone found a slick spot to mount a brake controller?

the place that looks good is in front of ones right knee on the dash trim but with my legs i think I will end up contacting it. I read some people put them under the radio which is not an option since I have the NAV sytem.

I am 6'1" and have the brake controller on the left knee bolster, and my 10 meter CB radio on the right knee bolster.

No interference issues!

03-05 dash or 06+ ? I have it down low on the left in my 05 and used an existing screw. I like the location, but it's not convenient if you want to hit the manual brake on it. I can post a pic (think I already have once before) if you have this dash, but it wouln't apply to 06+.

I'm 6'3" and my brake controller is below my right knee and I've had no problems. However I'm probably going to move it to the same location in wcjp's picture.

Same here... same place I had it mounted in my 99 and I already had the harness soldered up (so it made sense to mount it there so I didn't need to mod the harness). I'm 6 foot even, and only occaisionally do I touch it with my knee getting in and out.

Thanks for the replies. I am one of those picky people who would rather spend three days to re engineer something to make it look clean. in my opinion I dont like the way the controller fits or looks in any mounting location talked about. What I am going to do is mount it down flat on the bottom of the console and cut a notch into the trim piece that he has shown in the picture and slide it back and angle it upward slightly. I plan to use JB weld to fasten the cradle in place to the trim. I will be able to quickly remove it if needed since my wifes truck is setup for this controller as well in a bind I can use it. I have the same controller shown in the picture I ordered a new piece of trim from the dealer it was only about 20. 00 so I can hack away and not worry about it. I dont think the entire mod will take more than 1-2 hrs

I also have a harness coming for the tekonsha controller that is a direct fit from the controller to the truck. if it turns out as planned I'll take pics and try to figure out how to post it.

Same as WCJP. There is a cut out in there that you can run the wires through. The bracket I have is a plastic one that the controller clicks into. Easy removal, easy wiring. When I remove the controller (which isn't often), you hardly notice the bracket. It's out of the way and easy to get to to adjust or get to the manual brake control. I also have the Prodigy.

My truck came with one in front of my right knee. I hit it all the time. I moved it as high as I could on the left and It's not bad. Some times brush it getting into the truck. I don't brush it or lean on it while driving.

I have had my prodigy for about 4 years now that is why I kept it and will be installing it in the Ram. i figured for 20. 00 I can get the spare panel and cut it and slide the controller back to it does not stick out. I think it will look better that way. I dont think mine has a cut out I have an 07 with the laramie package and the NAV system so there is not many options for mounting it

I have mine on the knee panel on the RS, right above the fuel pedel. Because its a Ultma I don't have to worry about keeping it near level, so its mounted flush to the dash. Never have hit it yet.

This is as tight as it can go since it hits the dash behind the trim

it's almost flush with the outside of the dash trim. It was worth it to me I think it looks nicer than sticking out several inches. i would have liked to get it back so it was flush
