HONDA EU 3000 capabilities

Have been monitoring TDR forums for months just learning from others. Now have problem of my own. After seeing many positive comments on Prodigy controller I upgraded from Tekonsha Voyager XP. Installation on my '98 3500 was easy via factory harness, setup no problem. Truck sat for a week before I had a chance to hook up to trailer. Didn't notice before connecting trailer cable but after hook-up, no lights on controller display and no brake output. Turn signals and brake lights works. Further testing, have no 12v to controller. Can't find blown fuse but have no wiring diagram for 12v source. Anyone help on wiring or fusing on factory installed trailer package? Thanks.

I just did the same upgrade and all went well. I did not use the wiring harness that came with the truck, I got the one availiable from the place where I got the Prodigy. If you used the brake controler harness that came with the truck the wire colors are the same as the Prodigy harness but they do not go to the right pins on the connector. If that could be your problem and would like some more help, drop me a note. R Brown

The 12v you're testing shouldn't have anything to do with the brake controller unless something is hooked up wrong. The fuse that powers the running lights and the 12v charge is not in the fuse box in the cab... it's in the other fuse box in the engine compartment... you know... the one everyone mounts their EZs to  It should be a 40 amp fuse and it's one of those fuse link type of fuses. Look at the cheat sheet on the inside of the cover and this should help locate it. I think it's labeled trailer 12volt or something like that.

Also check to insure brake-away was not pulled while hooked to truck ,this could have fried controler . Most MF have web sites to help just for the problems like this . Ron in louisville KY ;)

Thanks for the responses. When I installed the Prodigy I checked the signals (with a meter) at the trailer plugs (have 2, one on bumper and one in the bed) and all were ok. Also had proper symbols on controller display as called out in installation instructions. When several days later I went to hook up trailer ( had not even driven trunk in this period), the display was dead. "Trailer" fuse (40 amp) in power distribution box under hood is ok. Instructions call for 12v on the black wire, not there now!! Reinstalled orginal controller, it also now does not work, I assume because the 12v is missing. There is a relay in power dist. box labeled "Trailer Relay". Anyone know what signals go through this relay. I swapped it with the Blower Relay (same part number) and nothing changed. Sorry for the long post.

Trailer relay handles the trailer's running and tail lights so that the trailer lights don't overload the truck's lighting circuit and headlight switch.

Problem resolved!! Was bad crimp on terminal in factory harness plug under dash. Worked ok for years but I guess I disturbed connection by twisting, pulling, or pushing when I installed new controller and tied up new cabling. Thanks again to everyone for your assistance.
