I keep hearing about the Jordan controller, is this better than the inertial / proportional controllers I have been using and how?

The ultima i believe is the one which ties directly into break pedal movement, so there is no guessing on how much brake to apply. I notice you have an '03 (or will), if you ordered the "adjustable" pedals you should contact jordan to see if their setup can be installed on such a vehicle. I have a tekonsha something, don't even remember what model (it has the inertial controller) and it works fine for me.

I found tons of info, and from what I gather, everyones particular brand is the Best! I just wanted some up to date pros and cons.

No, my pedals are not adjustable, I don't plan on getting shorter!

John,

Alot of guys swear by Jordan and I have no reason to doubt what they say. I bought a Techonsha Prodigy last year and it works better than any of the other inertial controlers that I have used before. Most of the guys that have tried the Prodigy agree. Once again our ranks are split on this issue, I belive that either would probably serve you well.

I have a friend who recently bought the new Prodigy, and had the opportunity to drive my Fifth wheel around the block using his truck (85 chevy dually). I was pretty impressed with how smooth it was, but it wasn't as smooth as my Jordan, expecially at lower speeds. Nothing scientific here, and I imagine it can depend on alot of variables, including truck/trailer weights and how they are set up and adjusted. I would think that the two are equally reliable. I really like my Jordan though, much better than my previous drawtite.

I tried both and gave some pros and con about a month ago. I like the Jordan better. I got the Prodigy first because the Jordan cable adjustment scared me a little but it's a piece of cake. Setting up the Jordan is no worse than finding the best combo of initial voltage and boost on the Prodigy. The Jordan is smoother in city traffic and on crumby state hiways and backroads. If you don't drive in those conditions, it won't matter. Panic stops are excellent with both but the Prodigy would churp the tires for a nanosecond on the initial smash of the brake peddle. I think it's quite nice to NEVER feel the trailer jerk when braking. I used to install the old hydraulic controllers for customers but never used one. Jordan users say they are equivalent. I think the Jordan might have the edge over the hydraulics because you can make the trailer SMOOTHLY lead the truck with the cable adjustment. The Prodigy Boost is to make the trailer lead the truck but it also make the trailer a little jerky in town, if you don't turn it off. The Prodigy is still great compared to the others. Craig

The Jordan is on UPS Blue, thanks! The Trailer bump and jerk is the annoying thing I can never adjust out of an inertial brake controller, the jordan sounds like the answer.

My Jordan came Friday. I might install it tomorrow, but I don't feel like hooking the rig up to test it (too much of a PITA to back it into my driveway. ) I will be out in the 5er in October at the latest, I guess I will adjust the Jordon on the way down the hill from my driveway

Why did we ever get away from the old hydraulic controllers in the first place?? And why do i have to re adjust my voyager XP everytime i get into my truck, it will either not brake at all or it will be too grabby and lock the tires

1. Segregated front and rear brake hydraulic circuits.

2. Product liability concerns about tapping into brake lines.

3. Anti-lock brakes.

Because it's an inertial controller. That's why people (me included) swear by the truly proportional Jordan. Since it varies its output as a direct function of brake pedal travel, it's the closest thing available today to the old hydraulic brake controllers.

Looks like an old design, but I sure look forward to having another gauge, one that monitors my trailer brakes!

Is it me or are the Jordans old and dated looking. I like things to look modern.
