Can I pull my PU

Pullrite Hitch Question

nps said:
Nate - the downside of a Prodigy is that you have to build deceleration forces before the controller begins to apply braking to the trailer. On slick roads during a panic stop that may put the trailer out ahead of you.

With the Jordan, as soon as you push the brake pedal the trailer is getting its brakes applied too.

That is not true. The prodigy hits the trailer brakes with a set voltage anytime the brake pedal is pressed. This voltage or initial hit is adjusted with the boost mode feature.

I have pulled with the Prodigy in a couple of different trucks for 2 years now and love it. Simple to install and adjust..... and no cable to wear out ;)

With the Jordan, the controll has to be bascially over the brake pedal I take it? My brake controller is to the left, bascially over the park brake pedal. I would think it would be in the way right over the brake pedal?

Nate According to Jordan homepage the controller can be located as much as 18' off center to either left or right of brake pedal. Their page says cost is $139. 99 if I remember right. I am thinking about getting one to replace the Drawtite controller I have currently.

I still say BrakeSmart. I would like to start a poll on which Brake Controller. Can someone point me in the right direction as to how to do this.

How do I create and vote in polls?

You may notice that some threads on this forum also include a section where you can vote on an issue or question. These threads are called 'polls' and this is how to create them:

Creating a new poll

When you post a new thread, you may have the option to also create a poll.

This function allows you to ask a question and specify a number of possible responses. Other members will then be able to vote for the response they wish, and the results of the voting will be displayed in the thread.

An example poll might be:

What is your favorite color?

Red

Blue

Yellow

Green

Sky-blue pink with yellow spots

To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes! post a poll' checkbox at the bottom of the page, and set the number of possible responses you want to include.

When you click the submit button, you will be taken to the poll creation page, where you can specify the question and the list of responses you want to include.

You may also want to specify a time limit for the poll, so that (for example) it only stays open for voting for a week.

Voting in and viewing a poll

To vote in a poll, simply select which option you want to vote for, and click the [Vote!] button. You may view the current results for a poll before you vote by clicking the 'View Results' link. Voting in a poll is entirely optional. You may vote for any of the available options, or cast no vote at all.

Generally, once you have voted in a poll, you will not be able to change your vote later, so place your vote carefully!

Jordan Vote

The Jordan replaced some Tractor Supply piece of dump. It transferred to the '01 3500 upon the untimely death of the '98. 5 2500.

7+ years of towing trailers and extremely pleased with the Jordan. Easy for the wife to adjust between her different trailers. New Sundowner trailer is 12K so I added an exhaust brake for some downhill insurance.

Then just get a Jordan!

The Jordan will apply trailer brakes proportional to your pedal movement.

The Jordan also has an ammeter built in so you can see that all of your brakes are working properly (or at least that the electrical hookup is good).

I've wanted a Brakesmart for a very long time. I was told it would be out last October. I kept looking at their website for updates, and the last time I looked it was gone.

Anyone have a new link for them? I can't find it on Google or Yahoo.

thx.

litespeed--as posted before, the brakesmart is now available

Thanks... ... . But no thanks... ... I played the waiting game for a while (towards the end of last year). The Ultima is en-route.

If it was posted before I would not know. I am not on here every day. A specific search is still vague.

If it was posted before... ... Ok... . Where and when? I would really like to know, because I dealt with them last year.

Another vote for the Jordan Ultima, I love mine. One I got it dialed in, it works like the braking system on a tractor-trailer combination.

Check Ebay, I bought mine for $75 + ride, and it was brand new.

I agree the price for a Brakesmart is high compared to others but after researching this and many other web-sites on brake controllers I find the brakesmart highly recommended by highly reputable posters. Everyone that has used all the popular controllers strongly choose the Brakesmart.

I plan to order a Brakesmart soon.

I have the BrakeSmart and it is BY FAR the finest controller I have ever had or could imagine. Yes, it is expensive but I have up 11K that could be pushing me every time I want to stop. I want it to stop as soothly and reliably as the truck. I have pulled a lot of trailers for a lot of years with cheap controllers. My guardian angel steped in for me more than once. When it comes to your life, how much do you think it's worth?

Just ordered the Jordan Ultima. I have followed these threads on several websites and believe it will do the job well. I'll report back when I get it installed and tested.

The Brakesmart is all nice and good, but as I said before it's completely out of my price range. For the price of that thing, I was able to buy the Jordan, a Putnam Class V hitch, ball mount and ball.
