Anyone having problems with the controller bouncing back in forth from connected to disconnected, Can drive around with no problems and then sometimes it shows disconnected. Have tried different trailers and the same problem.

Mine never shows disconnected until I pull the plug. You need to check all the connections to the trailer plug.

Always a good idea to use silicone grease on the connectors too. You might have a loose one or some corrosion.

Anyone having trouble with their trailer brake controller on the second generation trucks? I have a 98 12 valve that seems to burn them out. It has the factory tow package so the controllers just get plugged in but they only work for a little bit and quit. The trailers work just fine behind other pickups. This last controller I put in only worked about 20 minutes, it still has power to the controller but won't engage the trailer brakes. I can't seem to find anything wrong and am unsure on what to check to figure this out, any help would be great.

I'm willing to bet that you may have a dead short somewhere between the controller and the plug that is sucking all the juice that the controller is trying to send to the back, and burning out the controller. They aren't fused between the controller and the plug i believe, so they will just keep trying to put out the current. I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time, but that's my guess. you could try running a separate wire from the back of the controller to the plug and see if that cures your issue. That's a cheap check at least and if that works, then route the wire properly and splice it into the back of the bumper harness. I had to do that years ago on one of my trucks.
