Hey guys, Looking at the Tekonsha brake controllers. How are they and what are your opinions on them. Which models do you have and what does each offer over the other.

I have a Tekonsha Commander that has worked well in the past. It is good for 2-4 brakes (1 or 2 axles). I have had one for approx 7 years and had to replace it one time under their five year warranty. Would buy one again in the future. My. 02

------------------
2000 3500 5spd, 4:10 posi, std cab, 4x2, Bright White, Agate, all options except leather and sport package. Dawson 24ft hauling a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger drag car; 360cid auto; runs 10:00 in 1/4 mile. I wish my truck ran this quick! No funds to modify at this time.

I recently installed an Jordan Research Ultima controller. It applys pressure proportional to the braking applied. It also has a brake circuit continuity check light and a digital readout of the braking current. Only has three wires, +12, Ground (-) and the brake lead. Also has a very neat installation kit as you have to attach a small cable to the brake pedal arm. It fits perfectly on the dodge brake arm with all installation hardware. Its a little pricy at $129 but I think its money well spent.
I used to have another brand of controller based on a timed braking ramp. I found myself constantly adjusting for the driving conditions. It would either be to soft/slow for quick or emergency braking (which of course you can't prepair for) or to hard/fast for gradual normal braking. I have heard the brand you mentioned with the pendulum based controller works good though I just like having complete control over the pressure applied. http://www.jordanresearch.com/

Do the Tekonsha and Jordan work on triple axle 5vers or is there another model and manufacturer for this application?

I don't know the model/part number but Kenosha does make a controller for six brake applications.

I have a Tekonsha and like it. It works better than most others I have experianced.

Tekonsha Sentinel is worth the $10-20 difference in price. It senses deceleration, rather than trying to time a stop. Try it, you won't be sorry. My truck comes to close to stoping like that 8,800# trailer isn't back there.

Drawtite Activator II is the one for me. works on 1 thru 8 axles. Has 2 diff adjustments, I feel it is the best one available. My truck spends 90% of it life towing.

Anybody know where I can find a Solid State Brake Controller that uses an Hydralic Transducer that tee's into your hydralic brakes. Far superior than pendulum sensing device.

jcbrown, you can't use the hydraulic actuated brake controllers with ABS braking systems. An excellant alternative to the old hydraulic style is the Jordan Research, Ultima 2020 controller. This unit utilizes a cable assembly attached to the brake pedal for the purpose of brake proportioning. This system works extremely well! Four Wheeler magazine featured this trailer brake controller in the May 2000 issue (page 92).

I've got the Tekonsha Voyager # 9030 unit.
It's inertia activated, sense how much your trying to slow down.
Lots of range of adjustment. .

fits perfect in the slot for the ash tray and it's right at your finger tips.
I'm using it on in my 99QC 4x4 2500 ISB.
I'm towing a 28' travel trailer with tandem axles.
My version is good for 1-2 axles. there are version the XP version is for up to 3-4 axles.
