I have a 2000 4x4. I drive about 40 miles on way up and down mountain roads. I have been driving in out of overdrive and down shifting trying slow my ruck down. My problem is that I have destoryed 2 sets of rotors due to heat cracks. I rarely smelt my brakes from over heating (usually from a mini van rideing their brakes all the way down the hill).

What can I do for more life out of my brakes?

I thought about cross drilled brake, but I dont know if they are worth there money. I inexpensive fix for now. I dont have the money for tran upgrade so I can get an exhaust brake.

JCwhitney has crossed drilled brakes for a 99 2wd. will they fit on a 2000 4wd?

Thanks

Chris

Have you tried Performance Friction Carbon Matelic pads yet? They don't seem to wear the rotors as bad as others do. I went 94K miles before I needed rotors, (then I bought a new truck)

Another question for the TDR Brake Guru Sam Peterson If its brakes I think he will know what you need.

no rotors for 2wd truck won't work on 4x4 truck. You may want to check out EGR brakes I did upgrade on brakes using carbon kevlar pads and shoes pads stay alot cooler and has alot better braking.
