2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Daytime Running Light Question

i'm fixing to change my front & rear brake pads/shoes, any suggestions advice or upgrades that can be done while everything is apart?



also how often should the rotors & drums be turned or at all?

Hopefully some of the guys will chime in BUT I remember

that some were putting the 3500 wheel cylinders on the back as I remember... ... .
 
Install an exhaust brake, especially if you tow, and make the interval between brake jobs alot longer. I have 56K on originals and about 50%of it towing and my linings are at about 60%. They cost a few bucks but after I installed mine, I would never be without one now.
 
I just had my brakes done and put in the Chevy 1 ton wheel cylinders. From NAPA, $12 each. It was considerably cheaper than the 1 ton Dodge cylinders and has a bigger bore. It is a bolt on fit.
 
My truck had 1 ton Chevy cylinders on it when I bought it. I just recently did the brakes including new calipers, rotors, pads, drums, shoes, springs and hardware, and I put 1 ton dodge cylinders in and the pedal feel is so much better. Chevy wheel cylinders make the pedal squishy. Personal opinion, but I don't like it. They are more expensive, but I think it was worth it. It seems to stop better now than with the Chevy parts and there is more positive pedal feel.

You changed a lot of parts and I assume you also bled the brake lines as well as potentially replaced the fluid. Any one of these items could attribute to firmer pedal feel and improved braking.



After putting the Chevy wheel cylinders I did not notice any squishy pedal feel. But I did notice a huge improvement a couple months later when I changed out my calipers,rotors, pads, shoes and associtated hardware, brake hose, brake fluid and a good bleed job.



I am curious as to how you narrowed it down to the Chevy wheel cylinders?
