Brake light camera add on?

I'm looking at a new 2014 that has a backup camera and sensors but no camera on the third brake light. Anyone know if this can be added by dealer and show image on nav screen or rearview mirror? Thanks, Chris

Not true. You can get both the in bed camera, and the back up camera.

However, I do not think, at least at this time, that the in bed camera can be added if not OEM from factory.

Truck has convenience group-auto hi beam headlights and rain sensing wipers-and the sticker says that the group is n/a with the third brake light camera. Salesman thinks they can add camera at dealership. Just want to be sure before pulling the trigger.

Cannot be had with the convenience group. It is one or the other of those. You can get both cameras, just not with the convenience group.

The reason is the rearview mirror cluster (for lack of a better word) the convience group has auto dimming headlights and automatic wipers which has the sensors by the rearview mirror. With both factory cameras, one is displayed in the rearview mirror and the other in the cluster.

Why on earth dodge didn't do them both on the nav screen heaven only knows. It could easily be selectable, or better yet a split screen would be slick with as large as the screen is. And while I'm dreaming, put higher resolution cameras and ones with a much lower lux (rating of how dark the camera can see)

This was the one thing that I wanted on my truck that it doesn't have. The rear view mirror used for the automatic dimming headlights (which is part of the Convenience Group) does not have the ability to display the image from the tailgate camera. The CHMSL camera replaces the normal image on the radio screen when you get both options from the factory. So if you get both cameras you cannot have the Convience Group with the automatic dimming headlights and rain sensitive windshield wipers as this option requires the rear view mirror with the forward facing light sensor to dim your headlights for you! You can add a camera and a switch to do this but just not from the factory currently. Ram says that they are working on being able to display both images on the radio but for now I can't have both. I did find the coax cable in the wire harness under the truck for the tailgate camera and I'm still looking for the part number for the CHMSL with the camera in it to try an experiment with but it is not listed in Ram's parts book as of about 3 weeks ago.

I was wondering the samw thing I bought an SLT only because it was on the lot and the price was right, But I would like to upgrade it to have the Nav system and the trailer hitch back up cam..... I guess it just costs money...
