I was getting the 'Brake Light Out' occasionally for about a week. Each time I would check the brake lights and they were fine. The picture of the rear end of the truck was of no help. It shows the right brake not illuminated, the left side is yellow, and the 3rd brake light is on. I finally happened to look at the 3rd brake light and saw it was not working. Not only that, it had significant water in it. Took it apart and the center bulb had a big hole in it and bulb was full of water.

The 3rd brake light had a major leak (gallons of water in the storage wells under the seat) when the truck was a month old and was serviced by the dealer. Obviously a half ass

job. They just put a 1/16" bead of silicone only across the top. I ended up filling in the whole space with silicone; it will be a pain to remove, but it will not leak in the future!

BTW: Had this same problem with my 95 RAM. Wish the RAM engineers would get their act together and design a proper seal for this light. Picture of duck is from 2015 after bailing.

The factory fix is using a clear flowable w/shield sealer, when done correctly it works.Water inside the lamp is a different issue.Housing replacement would be a covered repair also during the 3/36

That duck is awesome! It's good to have a sense of humor! My 2010 3500 CC also leaked terribly from the light. You are right, FCA engineers should up their game a touch. I'd settle for making one of them drink some of the storage bin water! :)

Don, I like the way you think. The crazy thing is that when I took the truck in for repair in 2015, the dealer tried to return the truck to me with about a gallon of water in each storage bin!

I live in Alaska. When I brought my truck in for the leak (temps were -30ish) and told them about it.......you should have seen the looks they were giving me and trying to explain away the possibility of a leak because it was "too cold to have running water". It wasn't within their mental limits to think about ice and snow melting in a garage or the possibliilty that I had driven south 400 miles to the coast and it was pouring rain.
