brake light removal

My Grandson has a 04 long bed and has a brake light out and he cant figure out how to get at and remove the tail light housing from the bed. Anyone have any ideas on how to proceed.

Have him remove the 2 screws from inside the edge where the tailgate closes and then gently pry the outside edge along the body to get it to pop loose from the body clips

tail- light mounting screws

lower the tail gate all the way down. On each side of the tail gate are the cables that support the tailgate. fallow each cable to the top, cable support pin. Just below the pin are 2 torex screws that hold the tail light assemblys to the body. after you remove the 2 screws you can pry the tail-light away from the body.
