I'm having a brake light problem. Sometimes my lights stay on and the only way to turn them off is to pull the pedal up. It's not the prodigy because when I unplug it the lights stay on. It's almost like the pedal is pressed just enough to engage the lights. This has to be annoying for the fords in my rearview mirror. Any suggestions whould be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Check your wiring harness at the 7 pin connector.

I had a similar problem with my V10. It ended up being the 7 pin connector had corrosion on the inside and was shorting out the wires.

I thought it was the brake switch, I replaced that and it still didn't do any good.

My 2003 does this also. The pedal does not come up far enough to engage the switch. I have not checked how to adjust the switch mainly because I have been lazy!! But it is really annoying when pulling the trailer and the way my controller wires in when the brake lights come on the trailer brakes engage. So some times when you let up on the truck brakes the trailer still tries to brake. Trying to hold you at a stop light. If you find out a way to adjust let me know. Like I said i have just never looked to see how to fix the problem.

I had the same problem with my 2004. 5. The dealer made the adjustments under warranty. It definitely has to do with the adjustment of the brake pedal and the brake light switch.

I was noticing it during towing, which kept my trailer brakes ON. For the entire trip and I have to keep lifting the brake pedal with my foot just to make sure.

Go to the dealer or you can possibly make the adjustment yourself.

Thanks for the info. Im going to look at her tonight. I have a feeling its the switch. I just need to put my hands on it.

Where exactly is the switch? Under the hood or at the pedal? Im looking at it and nothing just jumps out at me. Im not seeing any adjustment at the pedal either.

I had the same thing, mine was replaced under warranty, just looking at the paperwork and it says "replaced Brake Switch" no part number given. (at 8K miles) Was a 20 minute job. On mine it was leaving the brake lights on and activating the trailer brakes for the 25% boost so mine was a problem I had fixed right away.

Same here with my 06. Have to pull up on the pedal when the trailer brakes drag. Dealer tried to blame the Prodigy controller. Well I was not towing this last trip and the cruise control went off about 3 times without me touching the pedal. I also called Tekonsha (Cequent now) and they said they had heard that Chrysler had issues with the 05/06 brake light switches.

So I will have to go back to the dealer again and see what they say.

Fixit

Find the switch, push the pedal down by hand, push the switch towards the pedal, release the pedal. Your done. If the switch is loose in its mounting, replace it.

Man i just repalaced my switch today, i thought it was fixed but it is coming back on again. Before i replaced it i put a wedge between the pedal and switch, it did not turn off my lights
