If you are talking abs lite and not the red brake lite it is a whole different animal

Not true. The yellow ABS light causes the red brake light to come on. There is a direct connection between the RWAL and the red brake light driver. IF the RWAL problem can be solved then the red brake light will not come on in that case. I have never seen an ABS light come without the red brake light coming on at exactly the same time. Mine has been doing this for years. I have never seen the red brake light on in my truck without the yellow ABS light unless I left the park brake on.

Since this thread was about the brake lite not the abs lite the only thing I mentioned about abs was it changes alot. This is from AlldataDIY:

GENERAL INFORMATION

In the Rear Wheel Antilock (RWAL) brake system, as in other brake systems, the brake warning lamp (red) is used to alert the driver of a hydraulic fault or that the parking brake is applied. However, in the RWAL system, the brake warning lamp is also used to alert the driver that there is a problem with the RWAL system. There is also an ABS warning lamp (amber). The ABS warning lamp is only used to alert the driver of RWAL malfunctions and to identify Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) stored in the Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) memory.

To find out why you need to be able to scan the abs and see what the error is, in most cases with RWAL it is a sensor issue, but can be an electronics failure.

So, since you have both lites on it is a whole different animal.

The only code I ever get is 10. That is a bad connection code. As a result of that I have cleaned every connection involved. No change. I have replaced the rear diff sensor. No change. The odd part is that if I can get it rolling before the light turns on it will stay off until the truck is stopped again. I wanted to buy the truck without RWAL. That was impossible. I would like for it to work properly, but it does not. This is a common failure according to the number of times this problem has been reported since the TDR web site was established. There is a direct connection from the RWAL to the light driver for the red brake light. If It was only the red brake light coming on it would be easy to find and fix.

Where can one find the codes and what they mean... I tried the factory manual and couln't find the info. Reason being I had 2 codes set this winter while on a long trip (it was -20 below) and I lost a portion of braking but when the dealer reset the codes everything was fine. One code was for an open relay and the other I wasn't given ta description.
