On my '03 2500 (135k auto 4wd) I have noticed a couple times that the brake light will come on, either flickering or blinking. The first time I noticed it was while coming down a steep rough gravel road pulling a little trailer. When I got to the bottom I stopped to check the fluid level and the brake fluid was right up at the top. I checked out all the wheels and didnt see or smell anything out of the ordinary. After I restarted the truck, the light went out and didn't come on again for about a week. Then it came on, flickered and blinked, and once again went out after shutting off the truck.

The truck is new to me, so I don't know alot of the history of it, but I do know the previous owner had pads and one rear caliper replaced recently. The pedal feels very good, and I have never noticed any fade, pulsing, locking-up, or anything else out of the ordinary.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Its probably the sensor on the e-brake pedal. Make sure the e-brake is all the way released. There is some adjustment to the sensor, it may need to be let out slightly.

I set and released the e-brake and even pulled up on the pedal and it did not make any difference. I could see that as being the cause if the light only flickered randomly. The light actually will flicker for a while, then blink in a consistent rhythm.
