2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission brake lights go out when brake applied with lights on

Hey guys. Just as the title says. My brake lights go out when I hit the brake with my headlights on. Brand new multi function switch just installed totoday and still doing the samething. help?

The bulbs have lost contact with ground. When you hit the brakes the bulb is seeing 12 V on both terminals so the lights go out. bg

Seems like that happened to us years ago I think we had some fuses out and a problem with trailer plug have you burned out a fuel solenoid lately

would it matter if i cut the ground on the socket and ran my own?

I'd start at the sockets - see if they're melted. We had a v10 truck come in with a socket that was all jacked up, causing the tail lights not to work.
