2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake line

What dia. is the brake line that runs from front to rear on a 2000, mine has busted right above the right wheel behind the tank. It is so rusted I can't determine which, thanks.

3/16" on 2nd gen. Don't think that they would change that!

Yup, it's that tiny, AND it's prone to rust, especially over the tank.



About 5 years ago, I was whizzing around a corner, noticed a line of 25 ton tandems dead stopped in the road and hit the brakes... . to notice I didn't really have any!!!!!!



Trained in high speed driving (somewhat different than high speed stopping) I did manage to lay my hand on the parking brake handle and managed to stop JUST before #@$%!. The brake line had blown over the tank, I talked to several guys who said this was a very common problem and not just on the Cummins. I routed the line UNDER the tank so I could keep my eye on it.

Looks like a common problem, I got a roll of the Poly Armour brake line, sounds like good stuff, easy to work with and last longer, thanks.

Having similar problem with brake line. Where did you get this Poly Armour brake line and how do you get line between tank and frame? Do you need special tools or fittings?

25' roll for $18. 00 at Napa, will need flaring tool and I dropped my tank to run line back the way it was in the holders. You do not need a bender to form the line, very easy to work with.

i used 304 stainless line from summit it is harder to bend and you have to have a hydraulic flare tool to flare it but i will never have to replace it too summit also has the little tube nuts in stainless
