4 12v Batteries???

Cipa/Dodge towing mirror signal lights

While doing some maintainance on my TT today I noticed one of the wheels makes a kaplunk-kaplunk-kaplunk sound when turned backwards. I hear nothing when turning it the normal direction. (These are Dexter axles with less than 3k on them. )

I 've managed to stay away from doing brakes on any trailer I've had so far so I'm not too sure of what I'm getting into but I'm normally pretty good with a wrench.

Any idea what this noise is?

Probably just the brake magnet flopping around. The keeper may have come off the magnet. No problem, the keeper is only needed for assembly and the magnet can't come off since it rides against the inside of the drum. If you pull the breakaway switch and the wheel stops within 1/4 turn when you rotate it by hand you are probably fine. This test should work when you rotate the wheel in either direction. If you are still concerned, it's easy to pull the wheel to see if all is OK. Dexter has online manuals to help you if you are not familiar with electric brakes. They are very simple and easy to troubleshoot.

Thanks allot for the info Ron, I have to move it tomorrow anyway so I'll just jack up that wheel and make sure the brake is working. I found the online manual too.

Thanks again,

Scotty
