TDR Members,

Working on why my ABS and brake light won't go off (original post in the 911 section (great section:D Oo. :D) and found that my pads also might be a little on the low side and will need to be replaced.

I'm 400 miles away from home and tools so I will have to take it into one of these brake/tire shops, so I'm sorry Folks, don't have time to do a long search to find the answers:(

Question

1) I have a choice of Respestus (sic?) ceramic pads or Bendix semi-matallic pads. Do any of you have opinions on either? one repair guy said ceramic would last longer and be easier on the calipers and rotors, while one other guy said Bendix would be closest to OEM and last longests? What do you think?

tks for any input/tips on this question or anything related dealing with brakes and service stations.

Best regards,

Steve

oh, 1999 4x4 2500, quad.

I always use bendix pads. . I go through a pair about every 5k miles, as I tow alot, and have a huge brush guard on the front... plus I think my back brakes are out of whack... Anyways, I would just go with the regular bendix... My $. 02 worth. .

I don't know about that, replaceing your pads every 5000 miles, thats sick... how much cheaper could that be the the ceramic ones?

Pads

Have not had good experiensce with the semimetalic, I use the mineral pads, not as good mileage as some of the others but good stopping power and doesn't wear the rotors loke some of them. bg

geezzzzzzzz... ... . what's with the name "homicide" ?

i just put on front pads from napa. wished i would've talked to bill or sam peterson first. i went into napa and asked for the best they had. they gave me a set of "ceramix" to the tune of $89. now the front end jumps up and down... sam said probably the rotors. those are napa also. new 50k mi ago.
