Hello all,

I have owned my truck (2002 2500 4x4) for about 10,000 miles and I notice no matter what I do, I get a lot of brake dust on the front rims. I am looking for advice on brake pads that do not produce as much dust as the stock ones. Any ideas from those who have tried them?

Thanks!

I have tried 3 different kinds after the stockers. NAPA Extremes Service, Performance Friction(AutoZone) and Carbomet(Sam Peterson).

No difference in dust from any of them, best overall performance so far, Carbomet. But they haven't worn out yet so I can't say they last longer. But I rate brake pads maybe different than others. I think they should stop the truck and last long, not that concerned about brake dust or color. So in my scale:

1. Carbomet

2. Stock

3. Performance Friction

4. NAPA Extreme

I had the same brake dust problems as you describe, and they only got worse when I installed aftermarket wheels. I switched to EGR brake pads and have not had a problem since. We even towed our heavy trailer, 16,000lbs, on a 1500 mile trip and only had a very lite dusting when done. Just a slight bit, but nothing like it was. Before the EGR pads I would have had two completely black front wheels after the same trip.
