Is there a better pad that I am not aware of? I first had semi metalics which put out some serious dust and lasted only 15- 20K. Then I moved to carbon matalics which have lasted about 30K so far with no dust and some noticeable decrease in braking ability. I ripped out my trailer plug today and had to rely on the truck to stop both me and the trailer for the rest of the day, not good. I stopped at a job and both back wheels had smoke coming out of them. Anyway, and input would be appreciated.

Hmmm, I currently have 133. 3k HARD miles on my originals, pulling heavy 90% of the time. Rotated tires yesterday and still appear to have 50% left. :) I'd like to say something , but... .

All I can tell you is that is not the case for me. Soooooooo does anyone know of "top of the line" or "superior" brake pad that stops like the semi metalic but lasts like a carbon metalic??????

My 04 3500 dually pulls a trailer that weighs 20K..... we got 160K on the factory brakes using a PacBrake and Power disc brakes on the trailer... .

We average about 100K miles on the trailer brakes... .

Could you have a drastic imbalance and your truck is doing all the work.....

You might try the performance friction brand... .

brakes

I have 103k on my 03 2500 2wd. Never thought it and wouldn't have guessed it either but still looks like 45 to 50% of the pads are still left. What is the most miles on any 3rd gen cummins with OEM brakes ?

My rears went in at 96K, the fronts are still original at 110K. I routinely tow around 30K trailer weight. New fronts are sitting on the back seat for my memorial day project.

The regular pads you get at the dealer are not the same as the factory. Supposedly the linings are the same or nearly so, only the shoe is a little different, no "silencer". I haven't held the two side by side for a comparison. If they're even close to as good, I'll be happy. If not, next time I'll get the right ones.

I think I paid about $54 for the "regular" fronts, the OEM factory replacements I think were about $90, and they would have had to order them.

If you're wearing brakes out that fast, the pads are not your problem.

We just started to carry the Performance Friction brand of pads along with ART Cryo/Slotted rotors. The pads will last at least 2x longer than most OE pads and have a better bite too. If you have any questions give us a call.

-Maybe not enough braking from the trailers, maybe something wrong, maybe the guys that run my trucks up and down the road, I don't know. All that I can 50% rule out is that the brakes on the trailer work properly because you can feel the differance when playing with the brake controler.

-Diesel Manor I will give you a call next week, Thanks

Just an update fer ya. I rotated my tires on Memorial Day and I inspected the front pads. I left the new pads boxed up and put them on the shelf. The original pads are still well over 50%, I'd say close to 80%. They hardly look wore at all. 110k.

I just replaced all 4 corners on my 03 1500 QC at 95k. Performance Friction

"carbon Metallic" in front and Wagner "semi-metallics" in rear. They both look and feel just like OEM. I've used the PF Carbon-Metallics on a variety of other cars over the years and like them a lot. Quiet, nonexistent rotor wear, nice feel.
