I think my brake peddle return is broke because i will shut the truck off at night and the brake lights we be off and when i come out in the mourning the are on and all the way to work they stay on even if i reach down and pull the peddle up, is there a spring or something that needs to be replaced or is it much more complicated than that???

Hoss,

If you don't have the manual and the switch is like my '95, here is how to adjust the brake light switch. Remove the connector. With the pedal pushed, rotate the switch about 30 degrees and you will be able to remove it from the bracket. I think the direction is counter clockwise, but that's from memory. Pull the little button that the pedal pushes against out a few clicks. It's kind of stiff so it will probably suddenly pull out a lot of clicks. No problem. Push the pedal in and replace the switch in the bracket. There is a little tab that fits into a notch in the bracket. Turn it about 30 degrees to lock it in place. Let the pedal up easy and it will depress the button the correct number of clicks to adjust it. Reconnect the connector. If it's still acting up then you may need a new switch.
