2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake problem ????

My ABS and Brake light are on. I've scanned for codes and came up empty. The brakes are working fine. The fluid level is good. Where do I start??? I"ve ran a search and came up some ideas. I will try the rear speed sensor first and see what happens.

On the way to the store to get new leads for my meter my Speedometer and odometer quit working. So much for this thread. It has to be the rear speed sensor.

I thought the speedo and odometer signal came from the speed sensor on the transmission. Cruise and ABS from the rear Differential speed sensor. When my rear sensor died, the ABS and brake light was on and no cruise.

Yeah, more than likely it's the sensor in the rear. Mine was doing the same thing and that's what it was. Found out the answer right her on the good ol` TDR.

Hey I just got the same ABS/Brake light the other day. Is there any way to test the ABS Sensor??

I think there was but I not sure. I think either it's open (bad) or will read resistance (if good)? It's been a while, try a search on ABS sensor.



Good Luck trying to search: the search feature has been acting odd the last few days? I typed in ABS sensor - no matches, then ABS - no matches, then Anti-lock and came up with "only" one thread relating to Synthetic Lubricants???? I scrolled thru every post in the thread and there were no undelined or red "ABS" anywhere. Here for the past few days I thought it was me ? ? ? ?

Just replaced the speed sensor. Everything back to normal. My speedo would only work above 50 mph before the senor replacement. It was 42. 50 at the dealer. The TDR saves me again.

Gotta love the TDR for sure! It's a great relationship for all of us. You can start out knowing only general mechanical stuff and before you know it you're helping others out as well. Too bad the world doesn't have a website like this and can't be as happy as all of us sick-os that love our trucks. :-laf
