Brake question for 92

I noticed that my rear brakes seem to be grabbing quicker than they should, especially when its raining. Could it be i need to back off the rears a few clicks? and would that be going from bottom to top with the adjuster wheel?

I'd like to second that..... same thing on my truck when unloaded. The PO by-passed the rear ABS unit. Could this be the reason? I don't really like ABS, so if there is a was the fix this without hooking the ABS up that would be great. I was thinking about using an adjustable brake proportioning valve to lower the pressure to the rear unless I'm towing. Any experience/suggestions?

I have a 1990 that locks the rear wheels up. I like it though. It has ALL NEW brake parts and is adjusted tight. I think backing off the adjusters some would ... . ahhh, maybe decrease the , ahhh ... ... ..... grabbing effect?????



When you look at the adjuster WHEEL you simply visualize that the lever which rides against the wheel must be pulled UP to tighten / turn the wheel. The lever is inboard of the wheel. So if the lever is pulled up, it turns the wheel... ..... adjusting the break shoes at the bottom.



It makes sense to me.

I by passed my ABS valve and the brakes work good. I had a problem with grabbing and found they were too loose. They traveled so far then they hit hard! If they are set close already and grabbing then I'm lost. Try adjusting it one way or the other, and try it.

Grabby when its wet isn't unusual, I think a film of rust builds up while it sits, then WHAM! you cleaned it!

My 92 also had all new brake "everything" and it is rarely driven. When I DO pull out to the end of the driveway, my body is nearly propelled through the windshield. By the time I get into town the brakes operate normally and stop the high pitch squeel.

I think it is time for them to be adjusted, could be loose, that might count for some extra pedal play i noticed, plus its about 200 miles over on the oil change so hopefully i can get to that this weekend if im off, i started a new job and have been training and so forth.....
