'98 Ram V-10 gasser- questions

I have a Brake Smart controller. Love it except frequently it starts to beep &on the screen it shows -trailer brakes detected- I have used the enter button to clear it , let it time out, but it will all of a sudden start to beep again for no apparent reason. It continues to work just fine. Just really annoying beep. Any suggestions as to what is the problem?

By the way for anyone who wants to know the Prodigy works fine until

there is no inertia from the tow vehicle and then you better grab the

prodigy brake button or the truck will do all the braking.

Thanks Wayne

The brake smart goes into a sleep mode and beeps 3-4 times before it does that... when in the sleep mode it functions as it should but other circuits that need power shut down... . this is to save the battery as it doesn't know when the truck is running or not... the display shuts down and the circuits that support EGT and other functions go dead... yea, the EGT and other functions never worked but the circuits are in the controller and can draw power... .

Hope this helps...

Try cleaning the trailer plug and the connector on the truck, the usually takes care of it for me. I use a CRC spray cleaner.

Intermediate electrical problems are a pain.

Wayne,

It's not clear from your post whether you have a trailer hooked up when your BrakeSmart gives you the trailer detected signal or not. It shouldn't do that. You've got moisture or contamination in the plug or loose connections somewhere to cause that.

The audible alarm (beeping) can be silenced. Scroll through the menu until you find it.
