one of my employees was driving down the highway today and hit the brakes and the cruise started speeding up the truck (94 3500). the brake lights don't work either.

could this be a brake switch? if so, how easy to replace and adjust. i believe i adjusted one once, but i need a refresher. thanks.

Scott,

I'm not sure about the 94's, but I just went through that on my 2001. Dealer replaced the hydraboost and truck came back with brake lights that didn't work (that reminds me... I have to call them to discuss it). Anyway, the brake switch is not adjustable like they used to be. The good news is that it doesn't take much effort to make it adjustable. Mine has two bolts attaching it to a bracket above the brake pedal. One hole is round and one is slotted. I used a hacksaw to make the round hole into a slot and bolted it back in place. Tighten the bolts enough to hold in position and move it forward or back until the brake lights come on when you just move the pedal (but enough that the lights are out with the pedal released). Good luck.

There is a plunger on the switch that contacts the brake pedal up near the pivot - move the switch forward or rearward in vehicle until the plunger loses contact with the brake pedal when you just start to push the pedal. Tighten the bolts when you get it in position. Hope that helps.
