Brake System Flush

I just changed and flushed the brake fluid on my 98 24 valve. In 2 lines a considerable amount of fluid came out as an emulsification(sp). In only 2 years the fluid had a fair amount of water in it. My brakes seem a lot better now too. I would highly recommend brake fluid service!

How did you flush out your system? (vacuum pump on each wheel cylinder???)

Probably would have worked better to use a vacum system, but, all I did was use a turkey baster to get all the fluid out of the master cylinder, then refill it with fresh fluid. Once that was done, I simply bled each brake line until clean fluid came out (making sure to top off the master cylinder every so often). Worked well, and now the brakes seem better.

Good advice Randy. This prochedure is due on my 40,000 service. Most times I ship it. I'll sure do it.

I know that I should do this but I thought the wifes car with 110,000 was going to be replaced about 60,000 ago #ad

How much fluid does the Ram system hold?

Don't remember the size, but, I bought the large container of Valvoline synthetic brake fluid (Dot 3 & Dot 4 approved) at Wal-Mart. I used the whole container, and could probably use about 1/4 of the small container to top it off. But, I bled my brake lines probably more than I should. I wanted to make sure I had all the old fluid out, and since it was my first time, I went overboard. Good luck to you.

Just a caution to anybody out there not familar with brake fuild-don't spill it on any painted surfaces,it takes off paint better than anything I know of.
