Its time for my first brake change, and wonder if there are any pads to stear clear of, or pads that are recomended. I am looking at getting Napa lifetimes, for the fact I get a discount there, and they'll be the last set I buy. I am doing the back ones right now, and most likely the fronts this spring. Thanks for any info you can help me with!

Many threads on the subject in the past. Concenus is the Factory pads have all round turned out the best. My own experiance in the past was even Napa best I ended up pulling off and tossing in the trash. Its been years since I used them or any other aftermarket pad on many vehicles.

I agree. I just called the nearest Dodge dealer, and unbelievably they are the same price. I am sold on factory pads, after all, the have lasted 77,000 miles and thats with trailering and some not. Not many aftermarkets will last that long, without heating up and blueing the rotors. This is the first truck with rear disk's I've owned, how important are the clips that hold on the rotors? or are they merely for assembly line to hold them on?

I got the same milage in the front out of the factory and better Raybestos pads, 65k each. I changed the rears at 130k and put a set of rotors on the front at 130k.

Cut those suckers off. Just for assembly line... lug nuts/wheels hold the rotors on.
