I just installed a PrimusIQ brake controller in my truck. Sometimes it looks like it is working correctly. But quite often it shows an overload condition. Im told that this means a magnet is going south on one of the trailer wheels. I was told that the way to troubleshoot the problem is to cut the wires to each magnet and pull the trailer to see if the problem goes away. When I cut the wires to the correct wheel, that will indicate that Ive found the culprit.
Here is my question. When I cut the wires to a particular magnet, should I cut both wires ? Or just one ? It seems that if I cut just one wire I will have opened the ckt and keep it from shorting. But the guy I talked to said I need to cut both wires.
Thanks
