I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 and recently had a problem with my front brakes. My front right caliper completely locked up on me. Before I was able to get it repaired it had worn down the inner brake pad so badly it was GONE. All of the medal on the inside of the rotor was GONE. Now I wouldn't bring this up based on the fact that usually something like that is a freak thing. But a friend of mine has the same year Dodge 2500 and had the exact same thing happen to his within a week of it happening to mine. Is there any sugestions as to what might have caused this, are more of you having this happen to you, and what can be done to prevent it from happening again.

Check your caliper bolts and make sure the slides are lubed up and not siezed up. Another possibility is a bad proportioning valve or a collapsed brake hose. If you do replace the brake hose do both sides. I have to agree with ThrottleJockey. You didn't feel this prior to finding the caliper trashed? I would think your truck would be pulling to the right when you applied the brakes or at the very least hear the brake pad dragging on the rotor. Don't skimp on replacement calipers. Just my opinion. I hope you get things sorted out.
