Has anyone heard of this? Half of the time my brake pedal will feel real spongy and will go furtherdown as if they need adjusting. Other half of the time they are great. It started when I put the 3500 wheel cyl. on or sometime after. I don't feel this has anything to do withit because it is fine exactly half of the time. I changed master cyl, then ABS dump valve (which I tried to plumb around unsuccesfully). I find no leaks ,rear shoes are adjusted tight enough. I have to believe my rears are dropping out due to the feel of overheated front brakes. Thanks for any help.

If you have not replaced the fluid recently, glycol absorbs water. Does the half of the time when the brakes feel sponging happen to be with the brakes warm or hot?

You could be experiencing some expansion of water vapor trapped in brake fluid.

If it's been more than a year, I'd bleed the brakes and changeout the fluid in the reservoir. Also check for a vacuum leak in the hoses.

Good luck
